it is+形容詞;there is+名詞：

It is foggy./There is a fog.

It was very wet./There was a lot of rain.

It won’t be very sunny./There won’t be much sun.

天氣不會(huì)很晴朗。

it is與there is都可以表示時(shí)間和距離：

It is a long way to York.

There is a long way still to go.

還有很長的路要走。(我們還有好多英里的路程。)It is time to go home.

該回家了。(我們一般是6點(diǎn)回家而現(xiàn)在6點(diǎn)了。)

There is time for us to go home and come back here again before the filmstarts.

在電影開演之前我們有時(shí)間先回家一趟再回到這里。(還有足夠的時(shí)間)

there is+名詞/代詞和用于識(shí)別人或物的 it is+名詞/代詞的比較：

There is someone at the door.I think it’s the man to read the meters.

門口有個(gè)人。我想他是來抄(水、電等)表的。

There is a key here.Is it the key of the safe?

這里有一把鑰匙。是開保險(xiǎn)箱的嗎?

用于分裂句的it is 以及there is的比較：

It is the grandmother who makes the decisions.

做出決定的是老奶奶。(是老奶奶而不是家里的其他成員)

…and there’s the grandmother，who lives in the granny-flat.

……還有老奶奶，住在專用套房里的那位。(有老奶奶其人)
